Cable does the job Jul 12, 2010 The cable works as advertised and allows me to download my garmin GPS info to newer computers.

Not for 64 bit Computers Jul 06, 2010 I'm sure this product works fine for 32 bit computers, but so far I have not found any RS-232 cable that works for 64 bit computers. I tried to use this to download GPS coordinates directly to my Garmin Vista from a geocaching web site, but it will not work. This is the second RS-232 cable I've tried and there appears to be a lack of interest in the industry to provide the drivers to make them compatible with 64 bit computers. The vendor was great. Refunded my money immediately. I give them 5 stars.

Works Eventually Jun 14, 2010 I'm using this with a Garmin eTrex GPS and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. I couldn't use the driver install CD since it's a mini-CD that doesn't work in slot-loading optical drives, so I tried to download the driver from Gilsson's site. No dice. I next tried to use a different version of the driver from Prolific Technology (who makes the chip), which also didn't work. Finally, I got it to work by installing an open source driver found here: [..] Not an easy install! Once I got the right driver, it worked fine.

It works! Mar 04, 2010 I bought a new computer that didn't have a serial port but I have things that require a serial port. It comes with a driver disk. You run the program on the disk to create the driver. I had to set it to serial port 6 to get it to work. Everything runs quicker than with a real serial port and some things time out too soon, but it works and that's what I need.
